Pre Primary School

Set in a serene and calm island of green, the Pre-Primary Section came into being on the 1st of March 2004. This Section houses the youngest age-group of Cathedralites and is cocooned in the precinct of the 300 year old St. Thomas' Cathedral, in the heart of Mumbai city.

Adopting elements from the Play-Way Method, Project-Based Learning and aspects of the Reggio Emilia curricula, the Pre-Primary cohort of 80 children encourages foundational learning, vertically and laterally in combined Nursery and KG classes. A unique play-and-learn model that integrates two levels, Nursery and LKG, is the leitmotif of the Section. This experiential learning framework prepares children for future challenges through hands-on activities and real-world experiences. It ignites a love for learning and nurtures social life-skills, linked to cognitive and holistic learning, basic reading skills and confidence and character building. The campus provides opportunities for awe and wonder and love for nature, and the warm, comforting, loving and safe environment encourages their awareness and understanding of the world they live in.

The Section admits only 40 students each year with the children divided into 2 classes of 20 students each. The teacher-child ratio, the specially designed teaching methods, the experiential elements and pace of the program and the importance given to the nurturing and pastoral aspects of engagement with the children are some of the factors that make the Cathedral School’s Pre-Primary Section, a unique, unmatched and highly coveted experience.
